Hi
Can anyone assist - i have a Pajero 3.2 DIDC 2007 swb - gen 4.
vehicle has done 113 000 km .
Recently after a service (fuel filter replaced as well) - i have a whining noise when accelarating - the motor feels rough & it occasionally goes to limp mode.
When i accelarate & i can rev thru the whining & she seems fine at cruising speed 120 140 ...etc.
When idling - PERFECT / when in PARK & I REV the motor - PERFECT.
The problem only occurs when moving at low revs & i have gone into limp mode at times - before 2000 revs or before the turbo kicks in.
Had diagnostics done - no errors found - HELP !!!
Willem
Does the whining noise seem linked to motor revolutions or road speed?
1. Check you turbo boost pipe connections that one of them has not popped of the turbo/intercooler/inlet manifold?
2. Have you checked your auto box fluid level, when was your ATF last changed/flushed -is it still a nice cherry red colour?
3. Check power steering fluid reservoir level, if the power steering pump sucks air when running it can also make a whining noise. If low or empty use Dexron III spec ATF.
4. Check that your fuel filter is screwed on tightly (and water drain at bottom) and that all fuel hoses have the spring clamps on and fitted properly, if the HPFP is bleeding itself of air due to a vacuum leak it can also whine and cause power surges/limp mode when sucking/purging air in the fuel system.

Thanks Nick.
I have picked up that a aftermarket fuel filter was used (GUD) - i am going to replace with the Original Part & ALSO get all your points double checked.

Hi Willem, I have heard reports of certain GUD filter giving issues on some pajeros, however I have been using them for years without incident. Good place to start, swap the filter out for an OEM unit and report back.wtpmf wrote:Thanks Nick.

hi Nicholas
Some good news - i replaced the diesel filter with Mitsubishi part & immediately my motor was quiter & vehicle drove brilliantly.
I think there is still a bit of air in the system as i have had a few minor reoccurences - but nothing like i previously experienced.
I will bleed the filter before i leave work this afternoon & check again.
From your side - is there anything i can do to ensure all the air is out the system.

NOPE - Problem is back - whining & limp mode occasionally.
Not sure if i have to start looking at Boost or Map sensors (saw a few posts regarding this as possible causes) or getting the Manifolds cleaned.
Nicholas - you are based in Durbanville - i work here - maybe we can get toh=gether so that you can drive my car & diagnose the symptoms.

PROBLEM FIXED - Mitsubishi - checked everything found a fuel pressure issue - Replaced Suction Control Valve - Paj running fine.
Lets hope this is it.
Thanks for the help Nicholas.
