Re: Gen4 Diesel Pump
Mike,

I think I had the same problem as you a few years back. Took quite a lot of patience and not simply accepting the dealers or the indie's opinions.

Anyway, see my issue and resolution here:

The valve replacement was done within a few hours and cost less than R3k if my memory serves,.

Good luck

Hi RedCat .... Thanks for this. I was reading your post in the link above and you mentioned the following"

While accelerating my engine now sounds like it's surging and lagging, as if i were applying and releasing pressure on a clutch.

The effect on the momentum of the car is negligible, and the rev counter doesn't report any discernible effect, but the sound is definitely one of the engine revving and dropping and revving and dropping in each gear.

Funny enough, mine is doing the same thing but has been doing this for a long long time. I just put it down to 'normal' for the car. It sounds like while you are driving you accelerate and decelerate, but then as you said the rev counter doesn't show any such indication it just seems to be the engine tone changing constantly. Mine doesnt do it on acceleration, it actually does it when i try to maintain a steady constant speed ..... I wonder if its the same symptom?
