2005 3.2DID - Worth Having it 'Chipped'?
Have scratched about the forums but not seen any posts on members experiences with having DID motor chipped. Quoted consumption for my vehicle (as per sticker on windscreen) is 12.5l/100km; at the recent event at Protea Eco Adventures I noticed that the latest models consumption is stated at 10.5l/100km - a significant (~ 20%) reduction. The Mitsubishi Gent I chatted to said same motor and gearbox, just mapped differently.

However, I have seen on the forum that the Gen 4 is a common rail motor; so is this what makes the consumption so much better? Also, has anyone had their Gen 3 3.2 DID chipped, and if so has it been worth it? I would like feedback from anyone. Thanks

A Chip is something that you get in a packet and gets eaten before the braaivleis is ready :D , or if you are old enough a good TV show about the California Highway Police! :D :D . - Now getting off Soapbox

If it was that easy to improve consumption without negatively affect anything else all cars would have had Chips, which they in any case have. Anyway that is my personal opinion and yes I have bought the T-shirt and wore it so can talk with some experience on previous vehicle that I had Chipped and then Un-Chipped. A lot of people would disagree but my opinion is that the 3.2Did is as good as it can get and must not be tampered with. That is why there is not a massive amount of talk on it on the internet as well.
