I have posted this question hoping to get some more input on the subject of the Gen4 performance issues I have posted. (See in this section)
Has anyone had experience with remapping a Gen4? If so by whom and what improvements were experienced?
Any comments from the "purists?
They say remapping is like a phsycologist getting someones "head" right again.
Comments / input would be appreciated.
Have no experience with remapping but I know on LR Disco TDV6 it improved power so might be an option. What makes mapping different to chipping?

Cats from what I understand, with a chip you rely on the "design" of the chip and the extent it alters your engine setup from that of the manufacturers is out of your control / depends on the "designer". Now I know that some chips allow you to choose the "extent" and can choose different settings day to day. My problem is you are relying on some ones "word". I do not know if I want to risk the "health" of my vehicle engine. All too often the buck gets passed on with a shrug of the shoulders.
There is evidently someone that is Mits approved that does remapping. I would want to know exactly what parameters he is changing and how far. That way I can say / depict exactly how extreme the changes are and what impact it will have on my engine life. I am trying to get hold of him to discuss. If this was a Gen3 and I wanted to move the torque from low engine speed to mid range, altering the fuel pump timing slightly (pretty easy to do) would have a positive effect. We do this with the valve timing on petrol engines for different race tracks. Unfortunately I am learning more about Common Rail (no fuel injector pump like Gen3) at the moment and also why I am relying on / asking for input from others.
I am also looking for some performance graphs to compare std Gen3 to std Gen4 - if anyone knows of / finds any. If the Gen4 performance is normal (as some are indicating) then the graphs must be seriously different.
