Hello,
My fuel gauge has been non accurate for about 2 years so working purely on the km's driven for fillup
Now the temp gauge has started running around the last few weeks. Had the temp tested while the gauge was running up and down and luckily dismissed that as not engine temp. But cant trust the temp gauge anymore and we are going to Botswana next month and towing.
Suggestions are to replace the cluster to repair the gauge problems as mentioned before but think it would be a perfect time to have an Engine management system installed for similar money to a second hand cluster
What EMS do you recommend for the Pajero 2002 DiD?
Thanks
If you google the temp issue gen3 you will see that the problem is normally a dry joint and most often it is a big resistor that's joint is the problem (see image on google). So for the small fee of getting some tv repair place to check for dry joints (often a problem on tv's) or to try yourself you can save yourself a bundle. Second hand can / will have same problem sooner or later.
The tv place we have down the road tried repeatedly, as did myself in vain. Eventually I put an aftermarket gauge in for about R100.00 and end of problem. The engine management systems are great but try and get one with an audible alarm. I find when you have your hands full / otherwise occupied (4x4ing etc) is when you need it most.
4e was selling one just a while back see if it is still available.

Yes audible will be ideal. Checking the temp gauge every 5 seconds when we tow and it has become a habit now. Suppose not a bad thing but I need the temp to be solid and take the worries away

While you are googling you will find reference & part number to the small problem PC board which you can buy from the agents. Was +- R1500.00 last time I checked (and then it can have exactly the same hassle).
The top water housing where the normal sender is (top front l/h) has a welsh plug. I fitted the sender unit for the after market gauge into the welsch plug so all could revert to std by replacing the welsch plug and without drilling and tapping holes into the engine.
