Re: PAJ DID, Sudden Loss of Power and Vibration from Engine
What does the cylinder wall look like? Any damage?

I would replace all 4 pistons if you can. Have seen a few similar rebuilds only replace one only to redo it only a short while later to do another. I think those pistons weaken due to heat over time and crack. If one dies there are sure to be more. Ussually number 1 or 2 to always goes first.

Good luck and strongs. Search for post by Nick Gibson or Pedro on his rebuilt as it will give you some pointers.

Re: PAJ DID, Sudden Loss of Power and Vibration from Engine
Hi Cats.
Just had 2 pistons replaced. The obvious one (#2) which was cracked and Number 4 looked a bit dodgy so i replaced it too. The car is running but now there is this problem of an occasional misfire.
It just comes up every now and then with no specific pattern. what happens is when it misfires the engine light comes on for a few seconds and then it goes off and all seems to be fine. :? The car stats easy and is running quite smoothly until it . I have not "gunned" it but generally the power feels right.
Any suggestions what i should be checking :? :? :? :?
If it has moving parts, You can always figure out how it works. Not applicable for solid state hard drives. :)
Re: PAJ DID, Sudden Loss of Power and Vibration from Engine
What fault code is logged? Do the DIY fault code check and read the fault code. It might lead you to the right place. Hopefully it is not pointing to the regulator within the diesel pump as that would mean pump redo. Faulty pump could also have led to the cracked piston due to overfueling and resultant heat.

Re: PAJ DID, Sudden Loss of Power and Vibration from Engine
Thanks Cats. Will do the fault codes check and will come back and post. I dread the thought of a faulty pump. That will be an expensive excise.

Re: PAJ DID, Sudden Loss of Power and Vibration from Engine
I assume that is engine codes.

Check here on this thread from page 1. Not sure what it means though?

Yes hole in piston mine did just the same this week will open her up next year and rebuild it is caused by injector failure that leek or do not spry the diesel and there was no warning just happened I will strip down and test every thing and put full report of my findings on site. I suggest that 3.2 DID 4m41 after 200 00 km need injector rebuilds to overcome this issue .
