3.5 V6 DOHC 6G74JB7659 High fuel consumption and Jerky when under load
Hi Guys

I am new on the block and would like to get some advice on my Pajero 3.5 V6 DOHC 6G74JB7659.

The vehicle is very heavy on fuel and is jerky when under load. I have replaced the spark plugs (Dubble platinum), Tested the ignition wires and coils. Ignition wires tests between 15 kohm to 20 kohm resistance. The primary coils tested between 0.8 ohm to 1.1ohm. If possible, please send me a link or contact on where to order the ignition wires and coils for this vehicle.

I have removed the air flow meter and cleaned it. No deffirence. I did however find a 6 pin plug at the bottom of the throttel body which is a soleniod which I do not know what it is for... but there was a pin broken off which I soldered back in place but still no luck.

Any advice at this stage will help.

Best regards

Hi Gawie,

How bad is your fuel consumption? I used to get 17l/100km (5.9km/l) mixed driving, 14l/100km (7.1km/l) at best on the highway. With a Unichip... So these puppies are quite thirsty.

The jerking could be the butterfly shaft bushes in the intake plenum that are worn. This is a common occurrence on these engines. A cheap fix is to have brass (or similar) bushes machined to size at pretty much any machine shop. Parts from the agents are quite expensive. You might have to get your coils from them though, but plug leads you should be able to match the length at Midas or Autozone I suppose.

Good luck,
Fab.
