And secondly...would you guys be keen to drive through to Alberton for a Dyno day?

That's extremely poor figures!Gemaskerde Tuinvurk wrote:
So here you can see the torque curve drop.quite dramatically after 3000rpm. The mechanic reckons it's more than he is used to (my 2007 BK has 182k kms on it). He reckons it might be injectors... But suggested I use a fuel liner cleaner additive for 2000 or 3000 kms and then test again.
I'm tempted to use 2so given I post I recall reading a long time ago from 4epikanini where he tested the mitsi and Wynn's additives. But given my EGR is also blanked off, is it still worth it? Or should I just try use the fuel line cleaner? ( Mekor rivonia quoted me R400 for a bottle!)

Do you have a reference Dyno? This is measured at wheel, not flywheel as per manufacturer quoted power/torque numberw... I thought drive train loss is somewhere around 20%?4ePikanini wrote:That's extremely poor figures!Gemaskerde Tuinvurk wrote:

But factory spec is 380 or 400 torque at the flywheel. So it shoukd make at least over 300 torque at the wheels.Gemaskerde Tuinvurk wrote:Do you have a reference Dyno? Re: Early(2007-09) Gen4 cruising performance & fuel consumption
Well we went away again for the week end. An old friend ex MB came to visit us at our camp and was over the moon with the condition of my vehicle. When we discussed the performance issue he reminded me of an old contact I must go and visit to see if he can find the background to the "detune / torque restriction".
Cats on the Gen4.2, I believe it has a lot to do with mapping, the turbo and the fuel system. I drove a manual 3.2 DID Triton this morning and although manual, it was identical in performance to my vehicle. So there goes the auto transmission torque restricted theory I suppose!
On the subject of 2SO that is a matter for discussion on another day / thread.
With regard to injectors and possibly being faulty, being a Common Rail the injectors can be tested by diagnostics in position. Are you getting smoke at start up / on acceleration? Missing uneven idle, diesel knock? Do an oil analysis to double check.
A Dyno day would be great. We have discussed this but could not find a suitable / obliging owner (We do not have one - its on our wish list!). Where was the dyno test done in Alberton? I am interested especially if we can arrange a couple of Gen 4.1's, Gen4.2's and even Gen3's to make a comparison.

Let me ask Arnold from Mitsitech... He seems quite passionate about the brand.

I would be keen. Would also give me a good excuse to go meet the man in person.
Would also be good to compare vehicles tested on same day same machine.

Arnold did say it is slightly lower than he is used to, I will try some 2so and diesel fuel cleaner over the next few weeks.

Done some reading... Variance can be from 10% to 30%, and the rated torque on the 4.1 is 373Nm as far as I recall? So not too far off...4ePikanini wrote:But factory spec is 380 or 400 torque at the flywheel.
