SCV Valve Saga
Please read my story, and any helpful comment will be appreciated. I'm sorry if I am repeating what has already been said, but my search did not reveal the exact issue I am describing below.

I have a 2007 Gen4, SWB, 182000 km, owned her for 2 years, done 20 000km. Experienced the well known surging that so much is written about, due to sticking SCV valve.

Anyway, ordered one on E-bay, landed here at under R1000, including new o-ring and gasket. Installed it really easily, and this had me smiling for just about two weeks....

Then the surging returned, maybe just as bad as before, maybe not, but definately back. So I did some more reading up on Mits websites, someone says that it could be a failing Fuel pump, ie not achieving the correct hi pressure....

Maybe I must mention that the valve that I removed, and the new one looked exactly the same, definately made in same factory. So it could be that both valves are of poor quality, maybe pirate parts, I'll try to look at one from the dealer, to confirm.

Can anyone give some advice on my next step, to get rid of the surging?

Re: SCV Valve Saga
Well maybe look at your Oxgen sensor.
Also i have heard one or two guys have the injectors recalibrated and it solved the issue
Re: SCV Valve Saga
I did quite a bit of research on this topic. Some info for all.
Apparently you can turn the SCV 180* for short term solution.
If a new SCV is fitted you should have an ECU "relearn" but some have claimed no benefit.
I am a bit scheptical of anything bought on ebay (sorry - just me  ). There are a number of different SCV's for the different SCV systems and yes they all look the same. Google the SCV number / and pressure pump (What the SCV attaches to) number.
When I replaced mine the supplier wanted to know the pump number. There is a sticker on the pump with the pump number on it.
When doing the job make sure everything is spotlessly clean.
Check that the pipes and connections from the pump to the fuel filter are all 100%.
I am sure your problem lies here some where and less likely in that it is in the next area below.

To be considered however and for general info:
- There is a small filter hidden away in the pressure pump that is not an easy job. We made a special tool evetually as the allen key plug is very difficult to get to. I have checked and cleaned mine but have never come across anyone who have found this little filter and or found it clogged. I would leave this till / as a last resort.
- There is no fuel supply pump. The pressure pump has to draw / suck fuel all the way from the SCV, via the pipe work, to the filter and then all the way to the tank. Remember a small leak will allow air to be drawn in rather thin heavier diesel fuel.
- Then there is a gauze filter at the bottom of the fuel pick up in the tank.
Inside the tank at the bottom of the pick up is a strange contraption that I was not impressed with. It looks "gimicky" and is not decently made. I cannot see any one of these "flimsy contraptions" lasting - definitely not typical of Pajero quality. I believe it is supposed to allow cleaner fuel to be drawn from higher up in the tank and only when level drops low, will the float drop and allow fuel to be drawn from the bottom. I simply removed it so that the fuel is drawn from the bottom of the tank.
