Greg is in Cape Town so a bit far for him.
I am going to give Arnold a go soon on mine for service and possibly unlocking a few horses.
Greg - what was the all in cost of that motor after all the customs etc? Worth it to import?

Kurt - Thanks for the suggestion, but as CATs mentioned - too far
CATs - The total price was about R3200 (R2900 for part with delivery and R300 customs charge). Dealer wanted R6k, and was ex Japan.

Hi all
I am getting very confusing and conflicting advice down in Cape Town and, although I am trying to use Arnold's (MitseTech) advice, the Cape Town Guys are sowing the seeds of doubt:
a) Decarb - I accept that Walnut Blasting is the way to go - Do I have the injectore refurbished at this stage?
b) Decat - Just clean it or remove it an replace it with a straight pipe?
c) EGR - Blank it off or remap the software so the EGR is permanently closed?
d) Remapping - or Software upgrade - what tuning happens and is the Dyno machine simply a measurement tool? Some guys are trying to convince me that DynoTuning is not required.
I appreciate any advice and assistance.

I am not technical at all when it comes to vehicles and have very limited knowledge about mechanical issues actually but here is my thought.
I decatted my 2007 gen4 and found that it was surprisingly clean, infact i got a bad smell after the decat due to me removing the honeycomb in the box. This made no difference to my vehicle.
I never did the EGR as my thought was if its not broke dont fiddle and if at some point the egr does give problems then replace and clean manifold. Many guys have had issues with their cars (small niggles) and strangely its the ones that do the EGR blank and installing bad chips.
i recon a decent chip whereby it is setup for the vehcile and vehicle dyno tuned for optimum performance is the way to go.
I recon do the manifold clean and then chip, a proper chip and dyno.Dont mess with the egr too much. Our fuel nowadays is of way beter quality than a few years back and there is less gunk in it to cause issues .

I had most of those things done on my Pajero but first I want to ask you why you want to do all this? On mine I chased some more horses which in the end seemed to have been a broken MAF sensor, so the rest might have been unnecessary.

I havo no probs with my Olaf, simply chasing some more horses and better fuel consumption.
I have come to the point where I have to do some decent prevetative maintenance and since nothing apart from normal servicing happened since new, these are the things that came up in my reseach.
My Pajero is on 262,000kms and I am experiencing low rev power loss and significantly lower fuel consumtion when towing.
So this year I mapped the maintenace previously listed as well as the transmission service and 5 x new tyres.
So, with my next service we will be doing a chemical inlet clean using Liqui-Moly products (already sourced) as well as DeCat and EGR blank off.
Software upgrade, tuning and Transmission service will happen a bit later and new tyres by the end of 2018.
Somewhere inbetween some cosmetic prettyfying will also happen.
