This does NOT look good!

Wrong fluids coming out the wrong places!

I can only imagine gasket blown somewhere on the head?

Hopefully not more damage.
Did it behave strange in the uplead to this event or was it just bang, and there you go?

Please keep us updated.

So from Mr Google search I have come up with this:

This seems to be a semi common occurrence on the 3.2 Did Pajero early gen4 so far. It seems to be hairline crack in oil cooler. Withpart replaced and flushed you should hopefully be good to go, but the oil cooler replacement is COSTLY. The guys down under are crying, can't even imagine what it will cost in SA with our current Rand.

See this thread for details.

Per that thread it might be mitsu part number 1240A055

Sorry to hear about your problem. For interest sake I read somewhere that vinegar added to cooling system helps clean up the oil residue. Obviously flush and fill with coolant once cleaned out.

So Deonengel. Any feedback?

I had my Pajero serviced at Mitspro the other day and he had two secondhand oil coolers there if you maybe considering a secondhand one and it is finally diagnosed as per my prediction.

Hi Cats,
Yup, looks like oil cooler. Vehicle is at Mitspro, I saw the 2 oil coolers. He stripped and sent it to have pressure tested, and radiator to be flushed. He also said it is only the 2nd time he saw this... Most awful site to behold, Pajero on low bed

So is it correct then that a) engine oil coolers for Gen4.1 and Gen 4.2 are not the same?
and b) that the problem appears to be in Gen 4.2 only?
