Re: Fuel consumption
I have a 1993 3000 v6 manual and after a complete rebuild with new filters I get 17-20l/100km on hard pumped tyres ( 60% highway )

Those 3.0l engines are very heavy on the juice. I'm gathering some money to have it chipped with a 02 sensor and wideband adjustment to get some extra fuel economy out of it.

depending on the trailer/caravn/speed 23l/100km isn't that bad.

Re: Fuel consumption
I tend to agree with you that this is a bit excessive. I have noticed that the best range to tow as fat as consumption goes is about 100k/h. Towing a 2.5t rig i got between 6.5 and 7 ks to a liter. This was not a high unit as a caravan rather a car on a car trailer so wind resistance does not have the same effect.

Check your fuel filter, it is situated under the car and due to its awkward place often overlooked during services. If that unit is blocked the fuel pressure will drop at high load and rpm robbing you of power and causing the unit to drop to a lower gear. check that your spark plugs are correct and gaped to the right spec, pajero uses a resistor plug indicated by the r in the code and if not correct it will throw the computer out and adversely affect consumption. Check your thermostat. If it opens too soon or in some cases being totally absent will let the computer over fuel as the engine does not reach proper operating temperature.

My brother gets 6 - 6.5ks to a liter with a 3l manual towing a wilk amethyst
