Thank you to those that can give any advise here
This is a rather strange one
2012 GLS Pajero, 5 door
We have now heard this rather loud "knock" sound on two or so occasions, and it seems to be coming from the roof, above the driver side, around the sunroof possibly
It happened when the vehicle had to flex a little, when we went through a ditch, and as the vehicle came out of the ditch, this "knock" sound was heard. The best way I can explain this, is almost like two metal plates being pushed against each other, and that last point where they actually "bumped" past each other
Now I would not like to think that the roof panel is broken somewhere, but just maybe someone else have heard this before, and could guide me forward
Regards
Andries
Does the sunroof still open and close? If not then the mechanism near the sun visor has come loose, one screw holds it and on my 2008 LWB I had to replace the screw a few times (it’s near impossible to torque it properly due to access.
Alternatively, remove the lining strip around the sunroof opening (it’s very easy) and just take a torch and peer into the roof lining towards the driver’s door and see if you can find a loose object.

Thank you Kurt
I did not mention that the sunroof was completely closed, in both cases
But I will strip to see if I could see anything
I hope it is not any structural damage to the roof and "A" pillar. I doubt that might be the case. I am also not aware of any accident damage, we bought it in August
Hopefully it has something to do with the sunroof bracket, as you mentioned

Myne maak ook so nou en dan ( al vir 3 jaar), onder dieselfde omstandighede so, maar ek het nog geen los goed of skade gesien nie. Alles werk nog 100% met oop en toe maak en lift.
Nou pla dit nie eens meer nie.

Agree with Kurt The motor of the sunroof starts coming loose, and the knocking is an early indication it coming completely loose. You need a small ratchet with a star screw socket to tighten the bolt. 2nd time I used some silicone sealant on the screw and head to keep it in place. Locktight should also work, but concerned that you might never get it out again because of the tight access.
If you can feel the grass between your toe's, your flying too low!
