Good day,
I desperately need some advise if someone could offer please. My 2011 Gen 4 (now 225,000 kms) had original everything on it and I fitted Van Zyl spaces for a little lift. No difference in the ride at this point. I live in Mozambique so never do much high speed driving, but when I did travel above 80kmh I noticed a swaying motion starting to develop. At 120kmh the vehicle was undoubtedly dangerous as a slight bump would send the car swaying side to side affecting my steering and road holding. I replaced the shocks with Monroe's and there was an immediate improvement but only in the speed at which the swaying would start. So now it starts swaying from around 120kmh and gets progressively worst. I can travel up to 150kmh with it being OK'ish but if you go over a dip or bump or overtake a vehicle and cross the crest of the road, the it will sway prodigiously. The swaying started before the current set of tyres as well so I cannot think its that. If I increase tyre pressure to 2,5 bar it is slightly better but still a real problem as you have to fight the steering and lift on the accelerator to maintain control and stop the swaying.
I going to Cape Town next month and if anyone can offer advice as to the cause or where I can test my vehicle I would appreciate your comments please.
I can only think that your bushes in the upper and lower control arms are worn badly.

Is the swaybar still there?
If you did a lift, the geometry changes. Have the wheel alignment checked again.
Marginally wrong alignment geometry makes a big difference.

Hi Tim
I have the same problem with my Gen4. Also fitted spacers and now have this problem. Previously had the same light swaying action before the spacers that was corrected with wheel alignment check. The alignment check has not helped now, little play on trailing arms but not sure if this is the reason. Tires don't look worn? I am at wits end!
please give advise if you have solved your problem.

My Gen 3 was stock standard and possibly the most stable 4x4 I have driven. My Gen 4 came with a 4mm suspension lift and air helpers, and in the first 10km I noticed it is decidedly twitchy in the rear, not nearly as steady as the Gen 3 was. It was so bad that on the first trip I almost lost control of a fully-loaded trailer at 100km/h. Wheel alignment got it better but never perfect. Over time I had the air helpers split (the theory was that they started "boxing" and went into oscillation), and replaced some worn bushes on the rear suspension. It is better but still doesn't inspire nearly the same confidence as the rock-solid Gen 3 ever did.
Hi all,
Just some feedback on my Paj swaying problem which had developed over the past 2 years. I took it to Barkem Suspension Service in Nelspruit and they diagnosed that the front upper control arms needed replacement which they did.
Problem solved and she is as steady as before at any speed.
