Hi all.
My 2003 Pajero 3.2 DiD SWB (auto) wont start. I have been told its because my immobilizer is broken. A car-locksmith tried making me a new key and said that the immobilizer box thing that reads the chip on the key is broken.
This is what is in the car right now: THEFTPROOF CONTROL UNIT (MR587312) - broken
This part seems impossible for me to find (besides importing from japan[12k, 6weeks]). Does anyone know if I can use any old THEFTPROOF CONTROL UNIT or a different one but certain specs have to be the same etc? For example I have found a second hand complete lock set mr329406 but I don't if it will be compatible with the car.
Any help would be very much appreciated.
I am not sure how to assist you but before forking out a lot of money just some additional questions.
I assume your car started with the old key? Has the problem only started since you have tried to use the new key?
If that is the case I would assume that the new key has not been correctly programmed. I did a quick Google search "does a pajero have a programmable key" and lots of information pops up.

Hopefully there are some other people on this Forum who can assist you.
