Hi...I have just bought a 1991 2.5 diesel and I seem to be doing about 500 km to 60 liters...8.3 km /liter. This being very light on the accelerator. Does this sound right? I am planning a service but if anyone knows something I could look at beforehand. The revs at 100km/h is nearly 3000, I think this should be lower.
Many thanks Gary
That does not sound too high to me. The little 2.5 works fairly hard in the Paj. That is also why it is relatively low geared.

I originally had the 2.5 TD (no intercooler) in front of a auto box in my Gen1.
That thing did not accellerate, it "gradually picked up speed"
I never got better than ±13.5 l/100km (7.4 km/l).
I guess yours is intercooled and 5-spd?

Hi there...Yes mine is intercooler and 5 speed...so i think my consumstion is about right....8km/l and 12l/100km.....must just try keep the revs low as poss....thanks for coming back
Thanks for that...I was just hoping I would get it a bit better....but very happy with it in any case.Gerrit Loubser wrote:That does not sound too high to me. The little 2.5 works fairly hard in the Paj. That is also why it is relatively low geared.
Hi - I have a 2.5 td intercooler auto 1992, which was giving similar figures as yours on consumption. Accelaration was slow and she battled with power. I had the injectors and diesel pump re-conned, at a cost of R6900.00, which was worth every cent as she now gives me 11 km per l of diesel. I can put it this way - she is lighter on fuel than my 1.8l t Audi, which gets around 10km / l on the open road. In the past I have found my gasket between the turbo / manifold leaking. This affected my performance and consumption dramatically. It was not easy to diagnose, but once found, the Pajero was back to her faithful self.
