No, only the VW pulleys will turn faster, due to a slightly smaller diameter.
I don't see this as an issue at all.

ie
NB : My measurements are estimates
if the diameters are
VW Pulley - 65mm
VW Crank - 55mm
Mitsu Harmonic balancer - 155mm
Mitsu Pulley - 75mm
then the standard drive (circumference - Pi x Diameter) per revolution is
VW - 172.7mm
Mitsu - 486.7mm
and pulley driven
vw - 204.1
mitsu - 235.5
In standard form the OEM pulleys will turn per 360 degree crank revolution
vw - 0.846
mitsu - 2.066
so if you were to match the vw pulley to the mitsu drive it would spin 2.384 times per revolution of the crank.
Which means it will spin 2.817 times faster than normal.

I don't quite agree.
1 revolution of the Mitsu pulley = Pi * 65mm = 204.
The VW pulley has to rotate 1.2 times to equal the 'belt travel': Pi*55*1.2 = 207

it will turn 1.2 times faster than the mitsu pulley but a lot faster than in the OEM VW application.
The drive in the VW is a small sprocket where as the mitsu uses the large drive of the harmonic balancer.
the VW drive
The mitsu drive

Thank you yet again for the help ,im very glad to hear there will be no negative effects and for that price you can replace it four times for the price of one genuine mitsu part if the bearings take too much strain .Well worth it in my opinion .Thanks again

Yes but... what if it pops in botswana or at the top of Sani? Your day will be one of being a field mechanic IF you have a spare in the car. If not, be sparing on the water...

Usually a pulley gives ample warning.

Thank a lot for the advice!!!
I bought 2 x VW MK3 1.8 jetta timing tension pulleys from Goldwagen for R170.
Worked like a charm, no modification at all just bolted them straight on with the original Pajero bolts.

Wow!
R170 vs R950-00 !
One for the archives!
(At that price it might be an idea to keep a spare in the vehicle.)

Please keep us updated about the longevity of them. If they last I'm gonna kick myself for paying so much at the dealers.
