Eina! I guess I must admit living in a glass house!

Shows you the drama if you cover up.

Hope that was the last of Mitsu-cover-ups!

Well.......

Seems they started cleaning up their mess about a decade ago!

The issue is the same for all manufacturers off all goods: faults can slip in, either during design or during manufacture. Stand up, face the facts and get it sorted out.

The deeper you try to hide it, the bigger the backlash is likely to be.... ask Tiger Woods.

Hi Guys,

Not that I'm wanting to be a policeman, but since we do not, as a group bash other brands
I would like to point out, that the report does not (as this threads subject heading suggests) pertain to the Prado.

The article specifically mentions "2010 Lexus GX 460", so can we please change the subject heading on this.

Please guys, If I'm wrong, as I'm not completely 'Au Fait' with what the different models are called in different countries'
... then please accept my apology.

The Prado is branded "Lexus" in USA. Some Americans do not even know that Lexux and Toyota are the same stable.

My American sister (who hates Toyota and loves Lexus) was shocked to hear that Lexus is not an American car!

However, I have change the thread's title to clarify.

Anton

Lexus is indeed a Toyota brand and the Lexus GX 460 is basically the same vehicle as the current Prado, albeit with a 4.6 liter V8 motor, some small styling differences and a much more luxurious trim level. Both are members of the model 150 family. The recall included all left hand drive members of the 150 family (including left hand drive Prados).

Hi there,

I do realize that Lexus is part of Toyota, and that the two models are very much the same, even to the point where the Prado in S.A. is probably based on the Lexus GX in Europe, but I think considering, all the aspects that have been covered on this thread,
Left hand vs right hand (incl placement of Fuel tank) to off set balance issue vs stability (which was a part of the issue in the article, even points mentioned in terms of S.A. drivers know how to drive better etc etc.
I just thought taking all these into account, this article was specifically referring to the Lexus in Europe, and had absolutely nothing to do with the Prado in South Africa.
