No, it doesn't affect the pressure.
Yes, I would use braided hose with the correct pressure rating.
Only kits I could find online was on ebay and they are not exact in their size specs so I won't go that route.
I would move it next to the diesel filter so I can spot leaks easily. And possibly pair it with this for extra cooling.
