Cats, just to avoid confusion, ours are actually the longer ones. They are quicker to indicate full because the chips are lower down.

Just before we all go on a tangent here to justify an overfilling of the oil in our vehicles. Can we confirm that the pipe where the dipstick fits in is still in the same position and length!! Maybe there was a slight change on the position of the dipstick access which meant a redesigned pipe route and the resultant change in length!

Bigwill, thanks for correcting my posting, sorry for the confusion

Basically what these findings suggest is that if you do not have a dipstick with the green spot, which these older models don't have, you should fill up the oil level to about 14 mm above the top mark. It may be a good idea to cut an additional mark at the plus 14mm possition and then use that as your target level. I used a small bench grinder to grind out such an additional chip.

Hi

Sorry for the late post, but been hectic. Now why would my dipstick be different.

Why would this be. Have over filled by 600 ml and now light stays off except slight hill from the house. It comes on every time at about the same distance from the house

By the looks of things you would be safe to fill to the max of just touching the steel.

Provided the tube lengths are the same.
