I know this is an old thread.

I made the mod last week-end and it's great.
I took a couple pictures, in case anyone is interested.

The wire (green/red) was hidden by some electric tape (all the wires from the switch are stuck together by such tape), I had to cut the tape to get the wire on its own then cut it.

Once cut, I put the two parts in some heat-shrink tube, with about half a centimeter space between them then heated it.
The space between the wire parts was flatten to be sure there'll be no electric connection.

Guys,

Another way of keeping the aerial "in" whilst driving in the bush is as follows:

I fitted an extra aerial switch - ex written-off Pajero - in the switch panel next to the existing aerial switch and wired it in one of the leads in the aerial loom (can not remember witch one). This loom is behind the plastic floor panel in the left foot well. The procedure when driving in bushes that can damage the extended aerial is simply as follows: Radio "OFF". When the aerial is fully retracted, switch the "new" switch to the opposite setting, radio/CD player "ON" and listen to your selected music. I have found that when you drive in an area with a strong signal, the radio will play as per normal even with the aerial retracted.
