Turns out it was a good thing I didn't join you guys last weekend....on the way home from Colchester yesterday I stopped to do my routine check on the cooling system and found a constant drip of coolant from the radiator!!!! :x

Took it to the Silvertons agents and they pressure tested it today and found it to be leaking.

They are busy fitting a new one for me.....they better not also be preparing an invoice for the work!

And so the testing period begines again........

have recently found out that the mix of coolant to water was most likely incorrect in my cooling system. when i bought the mix from the dealers the sales guys told me i must just add the coolant and top up with water. that is what i did but now it seems that was incorrect advice.

upon closer inspection of the bottle yesterday it was discovered that what they had sold me was a premiex product and must not be diluted :o . the whole system ( and all top ups) must be be done with that product only.

i assume this could potentially be the reason why the cooling system has been behaving strangely with overflow bottle filling up etc?

any ideas?

I am hoping that is the case......this has been a long and expensive voyage of discovery so far....

it is likely as the water's boiling point is lower and creates extra pressure from the steam and pushes coolant out through the radiator cap into the overflow bottle.

This is very often the cause of overheating as the extra vapour pushes coolant out and reduces cooling capacity creating more heat .... repeat. Boom!
