It's just crazy how the prices differ, the dealers in Secunda charge for the same part R475. Looks like I will have to stop in Sandton when I come home...

Got one at Mitsu Midrand R83.91 + VAT = R95.65 this afternoon (Mitsu Grosvenor Crossing out of stock). I asked about price difference and parts guy (no name, no pack drill) said they also find same thing - different prices at Sandton, Grosvenor etc. - it is beyond him. Also noted that the "ZA" pricing on their computer system (The Imperial items all have a "ZA" prefix) are priced higher than the non-ZA items (the ones that apparently come from MB).

There is one left in Stock at Mitsu Midrand.

Does anyone have details about changing the tensioner mechanism itself (i.e the ratchet device that maintains the tension on this top guide?).

That's a great write up - but I believe that the ratchet mechanism (of the chain tensioner) can wear (my beloved is at about 225k) so that it does not maintain tension consistently on the timing chain. So I wanted to be prepared for that eventuality when I open up.

Anyway - looking in the manual that doesn't seem too challenging as long as a spare tensioner and tensioner gasket are available.

Do you know if there is ever a need to replace the tension lever friction surface (i.e. the teflon or whatever part of the tension lever that the tensioner pushes against the timing chain)? (See Mitsu manual page 11C-18 item 25)

my tensioner was in pristine condition at about 285'000km.
