If I reset, I usually disconnect the battery cables from the battery and then touch the cables together to get rid of static.
Then before connecting them to the battery in the morning I touch them together again.
I don't know if this is recommended or dangerous but it works for me and haven't had an issue yet.
PS : When I do this, there is no spark so if you see sparks there may be an underlying issue.
Pulling a fuse may be a good idea as well. I don't know which one is the ecu fuse, maybe you can try and disconnect the connectors at the ecu itself in the footwell?
O.K.
So i have done all of the above.
I even removed all the plugs from the Engine ECU located on the outboard wall of the left front kick plate.
All still the same.
What now?

And so the help goes dead.

Hannes, I had Codes 43 (Timing Control Valve System) and 16 (Boost air temperature system) coming on during the last few trips.
Took the car to MitsPro who removed the Pump and had it tested at Alan Black.
R 14 000-00 pump recon sorted it out.
Just did a trip to Kgalagadi and had no issues / codes at all. Seems to be soted out.

Hi Johan.
Thanks for the reply.
It sure seems like I do not have much of a choice but to get the Pump looked at.
I was hoping on something else due to the fact that I have these lights comming on intermitedly and does not give a hard fault...Well not always.
Here in Australia things are a bit overpriced so I was hoping for a cheaper option.
I will just simply have to look at robbing a bank and then go to the agents. The cost for a recon pump what i could find out is around $2000.
Will let you all know.
Cheers

before you spend big bucks on the pump, replace the 2 speed sensors first.
If they are shot you may get the 43 code because of the speed sensor and you may get the other code as a repercussion thereof.
I have seen many a case where the mechanics want to do the pump and the speed sensors replacement was all that was necessary.

Replacing the speed sensors would defiantly be the way to go, one by one I would think.
I have one request on this though.
I have been told that it cannot be replaced seperatly and the sensors on the pump requires pump replacement rather.
Have you got any specific part numbers, location and procedured on how to replace these sensors.
Can I actually buy these sensors on the open market?
Thanks

they are accessible when the intake manifold is removed.
In order to remove the intake manifold you have to remove glow plugs and injector pipes. In order to REPLACE injector pipes the tappet cover MIGHT have to be removed.
Part Number : ME203180
See thses two threads to see if you can identify with them

Hi all.
I removed both the switches cleaned them and swopped them around.
Refitted everything and started the car.
Drove for a wile and during this time only hat one light on (Code 25 only)
After about 10km of driving the other two lights came on again.
i would recon the sensors are my probleme here.
I am now in the hunt for two swithes.
By the way Marius All I had to remove was the battery and its box. the side covers on the pump and I could get to both switches.
During my search for the sensors I was told that #J5T23291 is a good alternate can you confirm this?

sheesh, I had a look at mine and haven't tried to get at them but they looked like they would be hard to get to.
I'm not sure about that part number.
