Thanks CATS, but I am going to replace it anyway.

Managed to get hold of the Idling Control Logic programmed in the ECU.

It only considers Coolant Temp, A/C Switch position and Gearlever position. It then works out a target engine idle speed, which is compared to the actual engine speed. The throttle position is then adjusted accordingly.

Easy as that! :?

I'm going to wait till it acts up again and then try the battery disconnect/ECU reset procedure as per Marius' suggestion.

Next time it does it maybe switch on/off the aircon and see if it has any effect. At least you can start testing the ECU logic as you posted.

CATS
PS I must still pass you your old viscose back for spares.

Battery reset will give high idle for up to three days.

Hi low range. How did you access this information in the ecu?

I am looking for cable and pc software to access diagnose my pajero ecu, etc....

Thanks
Nick

Nick, this is all I've got. (Attached) :x

There is an "Idling Position Pick-up" on the pedal (which is working fine), and then the ECU does the rest.

Wish I could lay my hands on some more control diagrams for other systems as well. Will keep looking.

OK, so I found the problem here at last! :D

Left the car outside last night and on start-up this morning the revs immediately climbed to 3000rpm.

(Now I now the anti-chip guys are going to slaughter me here  :D )

Switched off, unplugged the Dastek Unichip - Idles normal. Plug back the Unichip - revs up to 3000rpm.

Glad I found the problem, but still baffled as to why this would occur now since I've had the Chip in since early 2011.

Must say, I hope I'm not going to miss the chip. My Pajie was really going well and a pleasure to tow with.

Thanks for all the input!

I don't like chips, unless they are of the edible variety.

Glad you got it sorted and thanks for the feedback. Of course you can also leave the chip in if you really must. Just unplug on cold mornings before you start it up.

LowRange. ..

Phone Dastek and speak to Cornel. He is the developer for the Unichip. I am sure will be able to give some advise. I drove in his Pajero with a Unichip and it goes very well!
