Hi hope you fitted an inline petrol filter. Filters in pump prevent problems with injectors. I fitted inline filter into rubber feed line by bulkhead. Like you mentioned I've had no problems since with mine.
Reconditioned GDI pump working perfectly. Just remember to fit an inline filter.
Had the same problem with mine after a tankful of dodgy petrol. Lost all power and the engine check light would flash whenever i pressed accelerator. Max speed was 20-30km/hr. My knowledgeable mechanic gave me two options
1) Either replace the micro filters in the GDI pump ( expensive, risky-Chinese clones, prone to contamination again)
or
2) Remove micro filters and fit inline filter
I chose option 2 (obviously) and have not had a problem since!!! I change fuel filter whenever I service the car. Its now even tolerant of some of the dodgy fuel we get here!
