I have never had the Pajero on a dyno.
The best I can do is post Mitsubishi's claimed dyno graphs for comparison. (I presume the figures are at the flywheel).
The values might (will) differ due to losses, but the shape of the curves should not differ.
I include the 3.8 V6 for comparison.
PS. Nobody is infallible, but I have a very high regard for Allan Black.

FYI, I've decided to pull the plug on the deal.
After acknowledging that there was an issue with the engine the dealer refused to sort it out. They said it would cost too much to get to the bottom of the problem and they weren't prepared to do it.
This process has taught me a lot - thanks for all your comments and assistance!
The search continues...

That's a bugger to have that let down. I'm all butterflies as I'm picking up a passat 1.8t later today.

it is a bugger, but the process has taken so long I feel I'm thinking more with my head than with my heart, which is always the tricky part... it helps having never seen the car because then it probably would have been all heart and I'd be sitting with a nice-looking swb with a dodgy engine!
enjoy the 1.8T!

So all this dealer is going to to do is fob off a dud vehicle to another poor sucker who hasn't done the same due diligence as you. Who is this dealer?
Good job on making a good decision.

I must agree with Simon, if the dealer is now going to sell this Pajero to a poor unsuspectic old lady, I want to know who he is, and maybe even give him a call
