Yes Casper has grown on me but I almost pulled a muscle in my neck the other day when I by chance drove past old Snoopy. Loved that piece of metal and plastic! Glad to see it is still on the road.

Cats, I know that feeling. My 2006 DiD GLS LWB is still in our little dorp. Still love seeing it on occasion. It is going strong with many kms on the clock. The owner developed a new lodge somewhere high up in Mozambique and that Pajero shuttled to and fro. Last time we chatted it was still hassle free.

Ok. So back from a round trip of the upper Karoo and down the Western Cape to Cape Town and back through Robertson winelands and Tankwa. This was my favourite pic of the trip taken on Verneukpan.

We experienced some hecticly hot temperatures at times and I once had a scare on a long pass towards Tankwa from Wochester with the aircon on, towing and outside temp at 39deg. The coolant temp rose and almost touched the red. On my app I could see the actual temp was 114degC with the transmission temp at just over a 100degC!!! Eventually passed about 5 vehicles and trucks next to the road with open bonnets in second gear up that hill. Not nice but at least she held up and lost no water or started cooking etc.

I actually have power to the roof from 2 points. One from the front coming up under the plastic "windscreen wiper plastic fairing", for the lack of a better description, and going up under the plastic lip of the windscreen itself and the second one just out from behind the rear left tail light and going next to the door rubber and then up to the roof rubber strip, running underneath/next to it, until going up into the roofrack itself.

Not sure what rubber seal you are referring to.

Casper still looks a bit bum on the floor when I hook up my Xplorer and even when not hooked up and with my normal load(fridge, 2x aux batteries etc) in the back looked a bit low to me.

So I checked the shocks and they still seem good. I visited the guys at Van Zyls Springworks in Pretoria last week to fit their Heavy Duty coils in the back. Remember I still had Ironman coils in, but they have done a few kms(I swapped them over from my old gen3).

The new coils do not seem very much taller than the ones they replace and the coil thickness is only 1mm more so I am not sure if it is going to work for my payload, but it does sit slightly higher without the Xplorer. I will test and maybe take them back for the XHD ones from Springworks as agreed with them. So far they feel a bit more tighter than the old ones, so maybe they will do the job.

I like the look of that yellow coil. The right side coils are spaced closer together. Clear indication of progressive coils. It is soft the first bit of compression and then stiffens up. It lets you soak the small bumps without being too wallowy.
