EXACTLY the point that I made some post back. We need to confirm the tube length is the same before we all agree that the dipsticks differ in length on later models and thus overfill oil!
So how do we measure this?

Sorry for the late post, but been hectic. Now why would my dipstick be different.
Why would this be. Have over filled by 600 ml and now light stays off except slight hill from the house. It comes on every time at about the same distance from the house
My dipstick lyk dieselfde en ek gooi olie tot by die begin van die kabel.
My level liggie het ook nog net eenkeer aangekom teen 'n steil opdraand.

Interesting - I have never had the light come on - maybe it's not working? I have a 2001 and have always filled only to the big round bulged at the top - more or less 8.5 to 9 litres.
Maybe that's a better way of measuring - how MUCH oil to you put in?

I've just had an 7500km oil service and the mechanic said the engine needs 8 litres in total. Is that enough?
Usually after an oil service my oil light doesn't come on for at least 6 months, but then lights briefly on an incline and cold engine.
I noticed this morning that it came on earlier than it usually does, despite the recent oil service, so I'm wondering if 8 litres is enough oil?
To be honest, I find my dipstick a bit confusing. When checking it, the one entire side will be coated in oil, while the other will only be coated between the notches, as expected.

Hi All
As a matter of interest, my car originally had one of those wire dipsticks. I found it very difficult to read the oil level and the bottom of the plastic had broken off. I bought a replacement dipstick and it is the one with the holes in it. There was only 1 dipstick type available for the 3.2 and the dealers did confirm that they'd made a few improvements over the years.
I still have both, can probably measure if it interests anyone.
