Re: Engine code 25 and 43 on 3.2 Palero
Hi Marius.
So I got the 2 new sensors, replaced them but still no luck.

I then took the fauld codes again and found excactly the same.
Only this time I realy read the manual and sawthe following.

Code 25- TCV Timing Piston Position Sensor System
I know where this sits on the pump and would like to know if I can remove this sensor.
Do you perhaps have a par number for this sensor.
Also is there any specific settings i need to be aware of when removing it.

Code 43-TPS Timing Control Valve System
Where does this live on the pump and what is the part number.

It sure will help if i read the manual the way that it should be read.
My appologies for possibily leading you all in the wrong direction.
Any info on this Marius?

Did you remove battery overnight to clear codes?

Re: Engine code 25 and 43 on 3.2 Palero
I did remove the battery for the night .
It was disconnected for 12 hours.
When I started it this morning still the same.
First code 25 and then a couple of minutes later code 43 came up
I will be removing the timing piston position sensor this weekend and clean it up.
Hopefully will find a part number on it.
This sensor is the code 25 and I am thinking maybe this affect code 43 (Timing controle valve) because code 25 will always come on first.
Any help on the part numbers for these 2 parts?
Hopyfully there is no special settings for these 2 parts as the manual does not explain how to remove or replace them.
Cheers

Re: Engine code 25 and 43 on 3.2 Palero
O.K. So here is the latest on my Pajero.
I have tracked down the fault code 25 to the Timing piston position sensor.
Removed the sensor(#479765-6720) from the pump(Zexel VRZ) and found the piston/plunger inside the sensor broken in two.

Now the challange isto find this part somewhere.

Zexel have been taken over by Bosch here in Australia so my next task will be to find out from Bosch if they can get this part for me.
I can get the sensor but am not sure if the plunger comes with the sensor.
If someone can confirm this for me it would be great.
Thanks

Re: Engine code 25 and 43 on 3.2 Palero
Hi All.
Thank you very much for all the assitance and help.
I managed to fix my car by replacing the Timing Position sensor on the diesel distribution pump.
This was the code 25 fault and it subsequintly cleared the code 43 fault as well.
The part number for the origional sensor from Zexel is #479765-7620
Bosch took over the Zexel brand and created there own part number for the same product. #9443612895.
I am living in Australia and altough the cost I endured for this fix might soud very expensive if you convert it back to Rands but believe you me it wasnt. Maybe because I did the job myself.
The agents charged me just over $4000 in the end to fix the pump.
I removed the sensor myself and went to the same Bosch agency The Pajero gerage would have taken my pump. Ordered the Bosch alternate sensor waited 2 days paid $149 for it and fitted it all with 1.5 hours.
Man you cannot believe how much power this little white devil of mine actually have.
If ever you have issues with your Zexel pump fitted to just about all the Diesel versions then go to Bosch.
They will help you.
Good luck and safe driving.

Hi Hannes01

I was wondering? is it easy to change the sensors? you mentioned that The agents charged you just over $4000 in the end to fix the pump. Does this mean you had them fix it and they still charged you $4000??? Or did you do it your self? i will order the sensors today and i wanted to findout if i can do it myself. thanks

Re: Engine code 25 and 43 on 3.2 Palero
Hi. Yes i did replace the sensors myself.
Took me around 2 hours to do the job.
Most of the time spend was to remove all the covers around the pump.
Let me know if you need any help.

Hi,, yes i need help.. I already got all the sensors. (Timing position sensor and 2 speed sensors. I need to know if i have to take the pump down ( dis mount it from the engine) or can i change it whithout taking it down from the engine? I have heard and read that re mounting the injection pump has a certain timing. Please i need advice... thanks

Re: Engine code 25 and 43 on 3.2 Palero
Hi
You do not need to remove the pump at all. You do not even need to remove a single fuel hose.
All you need to remove is the cover plates around the pump.
Do you have the same codes as what I had?
If so then I would recon that you look at replacing the timing position sensor first.
The other 2 sensors will give you a possible code 43 with some other issues on the engine and its performance.
The other 2 switches needs to be replaced as a pair.
The timing position sensor is located on the outbourd side (LH) looking at the engine from the rear towards the front.
It is approcsomitly in the middle on the side of the pump.
You will have to disconnect the electrical plugs and the battery.
The other 2 sensors are located at the 12 o clock and 9 o clock positions looking at the pump from the same angle as discribed above. These 2 sensors are just behind the mounting flance on the front of the pump.
Let me know how you go with this one.
Good Luck
Hannes

Hey Hannes
Have you measured the sensors resistance ?
I have exactly the same problem as you. But the resistance is ok.
