Remember that the gen4 software is different and i suspect it utilises the lock up clutch more, hence the drastic improved fuel economy (over and above the turbo and common rail upgrade)Nismo wrote:Thats good, but it makes me wonder how the clutch plate look like, I have 215k km on mine. Apparently the guy before me did a lot of towing. ( reason for bad consumption? )
I felt a big difference when I got into my friends Gen 4 on pull away, it feels as if "grips" more.

If you look on youtube for the 0-100 videos of gen3 and gen4 you will see that on the gen4 at about 3000rpm pr so it sounds like it has a flat spot but that's the clutch locking as you will see the speed increases none the less. The gen3 doesnt do that.
With my third relay clicking at the PWM frequency I could get an idea of what the standard lock up does on my last test drive. It rarely locks up in third or lower but locks happily at med to high throttle in fourth. At the slightest prod of the loud pedal it unlocks in fifth.
If need be I can at a small extra cost add a LED to the loom that illuminates with the factory ecu lock up (ie. when the override switch is off) or just give instructions on where to get the signal to wire in your own.
