Latest on the Pajero is that the electronics are systematically starting to fail. She's been with Mitsu Specialist now for two weeks, and they recommend stripping down to the wire and start replacing the elecs on the whole car.
Te insurance company has come to the conclusion that they are going to end up repairing this car to no end and that it's more viable to write it off.
i should know by today what the result will be. Holding thumbs as I don't trust Swart Skaap to keep my family safe in her current condition.
Andre,
This is a nightmare tale. Almost unbelievable to think a little dunk can end in a right-off. Electronics control our lives. Makes one wonder how bad "Y2K" could have been if the doom sayers were correct.
I see in another site that the Landy also popped a motor. Not you year for cars
Sure hope it all works out OK for you guys.

Heard from the insurance today, she is being written off!!
This is bitter sweet, I shall miss her dearly!!
Funny how that V6 survived the 4liters of water, and that the electrickery killed her at the end...

Pity, but I recon that will be the best.
Good luck with finding a replacement!

Not a nice situation to be in but in my opinion the best long term outcome. Electronics can be funny in a sense, corrosion can and often does seed more corrosion in the contacts and even inside the wires linking everything. Had they repaired the vehicle you could have had problems popping up months in the future when the bad experience has been long forgotten.
Glad you were spared this inconvenience and expense

Will it be a Pajero?

Without doubt the best long term outcome
Replacement will have to wait just a little, I have to fix the defender first or at least get it running again.
it is a defender after all....
with mommy's due date being so close only (2weeks so no camping and 4x4ing for a little while) we have both decided to wait and shop for a really good condition Gen2 / 2.5.
So watch this space!!!

Of all the Pajeros that I have had the honour to own, the 3.5V6 Blisterfender Gen 2.5 was the closest to my heart. If you decide to get one.... PLEASE promise to look after it with care!
