Seriously high egt's. I take my foot off after 700 degC

I have my madman EGT alarm set for 690°C, so I back off when it starts beeping at me. That was just a test, wouldn't dream of doing it again...Image

But how easy is it to get there? I must say that on my Gen3 3.2Did where I had an EGT monitor for ages I never managed to get the temps too high. Maybe I adjusted my driving style once it was fitted and from there on never really needed it? Not sure but I never regularly got to 700degC. Once or twice to about 680 or so when pushing it uphill and towing, but other than that never.

Hello Cats

I have had mine beep at me a couple of times. I normally dont tow and I prefer to drive without my roofrack. I set the speed control on 135 (i.e. gps speed of +/- 125 km/h) and then just get going with going.

The madman starts beeping when I start going up passes and the car tries to maintain speed on the speed control. So i've learnt to start slacking off before it starts beeping at me :)

Cool, mine is 690°C. I have similar results to you, an aggressive overtaking manoeuvre up a hill gets it beeping at me, especially in 4th going over 3000 RPM.
