Engine Noisy

I am new to the Pajero world, so would appreciate as much help as I can get.

My 2005 GLS DiD engine seems to be very noisy when cold, but gets a bit quiter as it warms up. Even then, it is very noisy when pulling away from a stop or accelerating to pass another car. It seems to be a sort of a roar, alsmost as if the car did not have an air cleaner. When cruising at 120kph it can stil be noisy unless you are very carefull with the accelerator.

I compared the vehicle to my friend's 2006 SWB and his is quite a bit quieter. The vehicle had a full AA test before I bought it and they did not find anything wrong with the air feed, turbo or exhaust system.

I know about the noise a turbo can make as I also have a Tucson CRDi and Audi 1.8T both of which have them. It is just that this car seems very noisy compared to the Tucson, my brother's Diesel Prado and my friend's SWB. Is this normal?

What should I look out for? Is there any way I can fit sound deadening to the bonnet or elsewhere?
