As a result of the high priced import 3.5l pajero motor ( +- R 25 000.00) i decided to do a complete engine conversion to a Nissan 3l engine( R 3500.00) replacement. Had adaptor plate made to fit on the original tiptronic box as i wanted to use the original gearbox and keep the inside of the Pajero original. The motor fits perfectly into the engine compartment without no cutting or modifying of the body. The only difference was the engine mountings, battery bracket, cooling pipes and a couple of other small things was specially made for the conversion.
The motor was fitted two weeks ago only to discover that it had to be replaced as it was not in working order. Just my luck that the supplier does not have any replacement motors in stock now but will be getting them first or second week in July which set me back. ( Service the purchased motor before you fit as the engine retailers will replace the motor but not pay for the labour for installing and taking out even if it is there fault)
Anyway, once motor is fitted the management system( GOTECH PRO X) will be connected and the van sent for Dyno tuning. If everything goes according to plan the Pajero/ Nissan should be on the road in a couple of weeks.
