Well, that was a pleasant experience.
R600 bucks for all 4 disc barkes. R300 if you remove the wheels and calipers yourself.
Takes about 20min a wheel on the car and they come out to you!!!
Really impressed with this company.

I fully recommend him to anyone!!
Why did you have the discs skimmed? Whas is because of brake shudder? If so, it would be interesting to see whether the skimmed discs have cured the problem on a permanent basis, because conventional wisdom has it that it is often better to replace the discs rather than skim them; the brake shudder seems to recur quite soon on skimmed discs.
Please keep us posted.

Hi G
I had a bad shudder and my discs at the back was really bad. she is completely smooth now!! They look like new at the moment. I will keep you guys update with how she does in the near future, especially since she has TC.
And at R300 bucks against about R600 odd each for new ones, I'll happily pay the R300 again if they can last for about a year or so!!

Excellent price
Skimming of the discs on Gen 3 Pajeros seems to be done very regularly at dealers... I stopped them from skimming the discs at the last 2 services (since I am out of maintenance plan now). My local Mitsu dealer charges R634 per axle (so R1268 for all 4)!
I think there is some sort of incompatibility between the pads and discs causing them to "glaze", which is why they skim them. The dealers only skim once though, then replace the disc.

My gen2 looks like it is still on original discs after 260'000km
My dad's gen1 also did very high milage on the original discs.
If I had the bucks I would get powerbrake disks and pads... had them on the colt - very good.

I don't believe in skimming disks.
- the pads will wear to follow the current disks' shape
- if disks judder, it is usually due to imperfections in the steel. Skimming the disks is usually a temporary fix for these imperfections
- after market disks are cheap (for most vehicles)
The Touareg has 350 / 330 mm dia disks which are replaced with the pads! (Comes as a kit). No new pads on old disks, no skimming!
I won't admit to the agents' price, but I will soon import a set from the USA to have ready when the current ones are kapoet.
It is worth the while though. I have never driven a car with better brakes!

Yes, I too have never skimmed a disc before, but then again my previous vehicles had brakes that remained good for more than 30 000km. If my discs lasted 100 000km+ (or even 60 000km) without any problems, then I wouldn't believe in skimming either
The OEM replacement discs and pads on the Gen 3 must be total rubbish then... it seems that after around 30 000km they will get a shudder of some sort (and the discs and pads are hardly worn), so the only option is to either replace or skim.

Had my Gen 3 serviced the other day, they skimmed the disks although I didnt mention shudder, but they do feel better. Maintenance plan, so their cost.
Next time, new disks. I believe they get changed constantly on the Gen 4 as well...
