Just wanted some feed back from someone who's had this done on a SWB 3'2DiD 2006 model

I suggest you make your speed terrible and then your consumption should be fine

Please give us some numbers ie: avg speed and l/100km and conditions.

I am afraid Roelf is right! Speed is significant when measuring consumption.

The diesel is a great engine, and will tow a heavy trailer easily, but when you work it (high speed) it will be thirsty, and the figures will come closer to that of the petrol models.

"Speed is fine" could mean anything. To my mind the speed is fine at 145km/h, and "finer" at 155!

Give us those figures. The guys here can give you usefull comments and advice.

I personally have only 'chipped' a previous petrol Colt and had it removed shortly thereafter as it was not worth it.

If the improvement is as significant as all the installers like you to think there is definately long term price to pay in reliability for performance enhancement.

To get better fuel consumption change the chip in your mind(which is attached to your foot), not the chip that the white suits at Mitsu developed.

Anyway - That is my personal opinion.

I have not heard of many owners who are not satisfied with the Di-D's general performance.
If the standard engine leaves you wishing for more, there are one of two problems:

• there is something wrong with your engine
• the (claimed) 10-15% increase in output will most probably not satisfy you either

If outright high speed performance is important to you, a petrol engine (which does better at high speed) will be a better option?

PS I don't regard the gains claimed by adding a chip to be worth the while, and can't see it as being neccessary for the Di-D.

I cannot argue with that.

My perspective is that the SAC chip only 'optimizes' your engines performance which according to SAC means delivering more power at lower fuel consumption with a cooler engine.

It only makes sense that the more power the shorter the life of the engine, but...

They said they will gaurentee my exhaust gasses will be cooler after the chip than the initial measurement. If the engine run cooler, how can this damage long term reliability? What piece of puzzle is missing?
