Dirty fuel tank

Hi again
I need some advice please,It would seem that n have a dirty fuel tank .When replacing my fuel filter my car goes like a shot (Rob Green unichip ) that only lasts for about a week then i'm back to struggling uphill and irregular idling (some days) .I have replaced this expensive filter 3 times already .
Now what i want to do is remove my fuel tank and clean out the blerrie thing ,how big a mission is this ?
Until I get enough energy scraped together to do this i want to install a second (cheapie ) fuel filter where the fuel exits the tank ,right underneath the inspection plate .The reason for this is that this is the only place where the fuel line is rubber ,the rest of it is metal, also i have a aux fuel tank which pumps the fuel into my main tank ,so this is the best call to filter both .I reckon when doing this in the meantime i can save on expensive filters and actually see what is going on in my tank through the plastic filter . Does anyone know if this will influence my fuel pump in a negative way or will this work as i hope it will .Thanks Guys
