Repair or Buy

Guys I had my 3.2 DiD Tested and it seems that the head is cracked. My question now is if I look at the cost to have this fixed versus the cost of a second-hand motor??????
My concerns are that on my high mileage motor I am now going to fix the top part of my motor? How many more km before something ells fails?
Do you guys know how much mullas I have to take out for a Roll-overs engine?
What is your opinion about the Pirate Heads?
Where can I find a Roll-over engine?
Is there reconditions in the Market and where?

Hi Thinus

Just below you in Jet park there is a place called Japan Auto speak to Megan, what this lady has forgotten about engines most guys still have to learn :twisted: . I am not the diesel fundi but what I have seen is that a repair is costly and does not give very good results. In the end most go the route of replacement.

Regardless of whether you replace or repair (which would have been my choice), find the cause of the cracked head first.

Di-D heads don't crack often.
The cracked head is a result of something else, which, if not repaired, will crack the next head as well.

Did you ever get sorted out with your query? My 2002 3.2Did engin has just blown up (block head etc) and I now have to look to replace it . Not sure if to replace the motor or scrap the whole car. What did you you do? and if you replaced the engin where did you get one from?

Hi Guys
I have found a 3.2 Common rail out of a late 2009 Pajero. I bought it with Wiring Harness and computer. Motor has done between 10 and 20 000 km. I had the Vin number checked by Mitsubishi, last service were done in Ja 10 and it was done on 11000 km. What surprises must I plan for to have this fitted to my 2000 model?
Anyone that any of you can recommend to do the swop for me?
Will sell my motor if anybody is intrested.
I still do not know what is wrong with it? :( If there is anything wrong. I have just done a 3000 km trip again. I checked oil water set the speed control on 130kmh and of I went. Uphill downhill no problems at all.
I still wonder if this morning smoke is not valve stem seals?
It is still in use and if you want to test drive the motor you wecome.
