CRD chip & stage 1 upgrade

Hi all
I am currently considering a stage 1 upgrade to my 2005 Pajero 3.2 DiD (128 000 km on clock)
I do quite a bit of towing (Explorer caravan) and am looking for a bit more power.
Stage 1 upgrade comprises the following :
1.Uni Chip
2.Bigger exhaust (63mm stainless steel system)- I think they also remove the catalytic converter or something.
3.Different air cleaner - Airteck filter (one of those that you do not replace but merely clean)
4.Dyna tuning
Cost is R9500.00
Claim that power up to about 160kw and torque to about 475Nm and that EGT are controlled within factory limits by computer.
Questions:
1.Anybody had this done and what are results?
2.Any reliability/longevity issues?
3.Any influence on drivtrain and gearbox?
Hope someone can give me some good unbiased advice.

petrol engines have lots of room for improving mapping.
Diesel engines get more power in two ways through mapping
They up the boost and add more diesel.
Maybe I'm uneducated but I fail to see how they can add more power to a diesel through mapping and keep the EGT down at the same time.

Apparently they do it as follows:
The diesel engine is effectively a big air pump. They increase the flow of air into the motor by way of the new air filter and increase the flow of air out of the motor by way of the bigger exhaust.
They then optimise the fuel to air ratio by adding more diesel to the larger volume of air now available in the motor and so increase the power and torque.
I'm selling that for the smae price that it was sold to me.

I am to lazy to search for it, but there was a similar thread a while ago.
My comments were:
- I have seldom heard of an owner complaining about the power output of the Di-D
- if the current output does not satisfy you, the increased output won't either (once you are used to it)
- I still believe that the only way to increase power is to burn more diesel effectively. If you use the available power, the consumption will increase. If you don't intend using it, why bother in the first case?
- if you need a 'high performance' engine, diesel is most probably not the way to go. Diesels are 'working' engines, not performance engines (the Le Mans winning Audi TDi is a very specialised engine, so is the VW Race Touareg's R5)
My opinion - use it or scrap it.

I'm not arguing that physical amendments to the ports, intake and exhaust may help with power and consumption but with regards to chipping in diesels - I wouldn't go there - The 4m41 has built up a fantastic reputation as a powerful, reliable and economic engine.
Chipping on diesels can only up the boost and add more diesel - a recipe for high egt unless you add the physical amendments to an already well sorted engine.
I agree with 4e - If you want a racing engine then buy a petrol or if you can afford it, a big twin turbo diesel like the touareg v10 tdi - I have driven one and there is nothing that can provide that power at that economy. It makes double my passat 1.8T's power and uses the same fuel consumption in most scenarios.
