I have seen these markings on the net a few times now, and they are usually associated with a failed turbo diesel engine.

Any ideas to the cause?

I think Frank (on 4x4wire) is the man to answer this.

hi all.Have done about 7/8 head replacements and the odd headgasket.Those marks were there on all the 4m40 engines.
but cant answer why.Is that a 4m40
