I would like to know if it is really neccessary to fit stiffer shocks and coils to the front end of my Gen 3 when fitting a aftermarket bullbar? I'm planning to build my own bullbar (thanx to 4x4 Outthere and Redvers) and want to do things right. Will Monroe shocks be adequite when the bumper is finished and klaar ???

Thanx

You would be removing some weight and replacing a bit more by just doing the bumper. I doubt that the extra bit would necessitate replacing your springs. If you fit a winch as well you might see and feel the difference to a greater extent but I know a quite a few guys that still run standard suspension with full winchbar mounted.

If you find the vehicle sitting too low in front and wallowing on uneven terrain I would go for an upgrade but resist the temptation to mix and match components. Shocks and springs are designed to work as a matched pair. Shocks damp the rocking motion and keep the wheels on the road while the spring actually do the carrying of the load and keep the wheels away from the body

Thanx Hbinnink, I'll first hook up the bumper and then see (post a pic or 2) if I should do the upgrade or not.
