Went to Kimberley yesterday and this morning a drop of oil on the driveway...

I previously suspected a problem after driving far I smelled "burning" oil. Took Shrek in this morning for a check-up.

The underbelly wet with gearbox oil. The mechanic checked and said he suspects the "breather" on top of the gearbox to be faulty. Wednesday the box will have to come off to get to the breather.

Eish!!

Breather was at fault! Mouse or rat chewed it.

Breather cost R 34.45, labour R 758 I guess it's not that bad. The gearbox was taken off twice.

At least Shrek is 100% now

And Rattex would have been about R 10,00!

Who would have thought that a rat can cost you so much? I've seen (and smelled) one that came out of a car's AC, but never heared of them chewing away pipes. Shee!

I bet the previous owner thought he had a gearbox overhaul coming!

During the December holidays the "leak" came back. I suspect the breather wasn't installed properly, so it's back to the mech tomorrow.

Hope this is the end of it.
