Pajero 3.2 DiD struggles to start

My 2005 Pajero 3.2DiD GLX with 210 000 km on the clock suddenly struggles to start. First of all I did a battery test but the battery was fine. I took it to an auto elect. to test the glow plugs and electrical system, this was also fine. He then said that it could be either over fuelling caused by a leaking injector or under fuelling caused by a worn diesel pump rotary. When the engine is cold, it cranks for about 4-5 sec then starts (without a jump start), if the engine is warm it takes about 6-10 sec before starting (with a jump start).
Is there anyone with an idea of what causes this problem and what would the next step be in solving this? Of cause as efficient and economical as possible.

When you have been driving a while and shut it down, will it start back up immediately? Or is you starting problem only on cold start?
If its only cold starting you may have a leaking diesel hose or leaking diesel filter gasket.

The problem is not only on cold start but actualy worser when starting hot.

I once had a similar problem on a 'platkar', and the problem turned out to be a faulty diode on the alternator.
Just a shot in the dark, but do check it out...

maybe a simple fix. check that the temp sensor in the head's connector is still attached.
if you are mechanically able you can try the following
wire in a status light to the glowplug feed to see when the glowplugs are actuated.
remove the injector rail and crank to see if diesel is being sprayed from the get go
have a compression test done - are you down on power or using oil?
Try a friend's fairly new battery
try to clean the battery terminals and ground connections.

hanslam,
Do you run on 50 or 500ppm diesel? I found my DiDs cranked a bit longer with the 50ppm diesel.
I agree with the notion of first trying a new battery.

Hi

My Pajero 3.2 DID 2004 Also recently started giving starting problems.
I have replaced the battery as well as the Glow plugs at a price.
The local Mechanic recommended the I replace the Glow plugs and the problem should be resolved.
He now says He needs to check to whole fuel line and it should stop the problem. The Cost = - R8000.00
I am requesting advice as I get the feeling our Local Mechanic is trying to rip me off.
