my Pajero 3.5 gls petrol .the car was idling eraticaly ,when i revved the motor a puff of white smoke came out the exhaust . the vehicle died and i couldnt get it started again. i have removed the throttle body to get to the plugs.After removing the plugs i found them to be carboned up with a gap of more than a millimeter . could anybody tell me what the gap should be and is the problem why it was idling erratically and wouldnt start.Also the one plugs ceramic looked like it over heated what could the cause of this be.

6G74 motor plug gap is 1.1mm

As for the rest of you problems, I have no idea, but good luck getting it sorted.

Your plug gaps are 1.1 - 1.2mm with a limit of 1.3mm

Without seeing the plug it is difficult to speculate as to the cause of the overheating. A faulty plug or plugs can lead to idling problems, try and post a pic. It might be a good time to replace the plugs.

THANKS FOR THE INFO I INTEND ON DOING A FULL SERVICE AT THE WEEKEND WILL KEEP YOU POSTED.AS FOR THE HEATED PLUG IT IS SCORECHED AT THE BOTTOM OF THE CERAMIC WHERE IT GOES INTO THE STEEL.I WILL POST A PIC.
