Free Flow pipe, si it worth the bucks ?

hi guys.i am thinking of putting a free flow pipe on my 3000 v6 swb. only had it a week but i know that v6 needs to breath better. as i said in a previous post i removed a big piece of the airtake within the first 50km of driving the vehicle.
amazingly this 5 second operation did improve the performance, [acceleration when i put foot was noticeably quicker ] yes its a little noisy, but i love the sound of air induction ! i believe its my motor saying thank you !
anyway someone replied and posted a pic of the exhaust pipe that is "pinched" at the factory, i had looked already and thought that it had been dinged. anyway to cut to the chase.
has anyone fitted a decent free flow pipe without the branches, did it make any difference in performance ,fuel effeciency [spelling]or just better spread of power in general.
i have read that the branches are a nightmare to have fitted on this model and generate massive amounts of heat in the engine bay.
cheers.

be thankful. I dropped the camera 2 seconds after taking that pic and that was the last of my camera. Waiting to see if insurance will pay out now.

If you fit a freeflow you will seimprovements but you will probably lose torque and that will upset you down the line. Rather just take that "dent" out by the joint and take it from there.

hi,
sorry about the cam, i saw the pic was on that other forum ! [duh]
dont know if an exhaust place will go to the bother of cutting that piece out and putting a straight piece in its place.
cheers

Steve

I did this investigation a while back.

Regarding branches: I am quoting my post on another forum
I spoke to the guys at Powerflow regarding branches and freeflows. While they will fit Brospeed at the the customers insistance, they recommend strongly not to fit aftermarket branches on the 3.5V6:

* it mucks up fuel consumption badly
* they will not last. He said you'll be lucky to get 80000km out of a set of branches (I neglected to ask why a branch would break though)

He also said that the Wildcats on the V6 are a waste of time because the power gains are all at the wrong place and also don't last.

They do recommend the Freeflow though.

Nice academic exercise though, but interesting that other powerflow franchises are happy to fit them.

I'm not convinced by fuel consumption claims on freeflows either - my TD Colt showed little difference.

If you pay them, they will do as you ask ;)
