New engine less power

Hi guys,
I need some help here! I have just replaced my old 6g72 v6 3l engine with another of the same in very good condition. It was put in by a very reputable company, but on receiving my vehicle and driving it back from jhb to Nottingham rd (Natal) I thought it was not as strong as my original motor. The guys that did the job mentioned that it might be the fact that the engine was tuned at a higher altitude (Jhb) and that it could make a difference being driven at sea level. It is the distributor model and I was wondering what you guys had to say. The new engine is in great shape and has 120 000km on it. The compression test was also excellent.
Any help would be much appreciated!
Lionel

Probably static ignition advance timing. The ecu compensates for altitude on startup.
Ill search for the timing procedure

The dizzy usually points to the heater hoses at the firewall when at TDC. To set the timing you must connect the brown terminal to earth and set the advance to 5 BTDC The black connector can be connected to 12v to let the fuel pump run. good way to see if the pump works this way.

Timing marks are as follows - NOTE all my marks are about a tooth to the right - they should line up when the engine is turned slightly back.

PS : don't turn the engine more than 2-3 teeth backwards ( anti-clockwise ), it damages the tensioner - rather completely another full turn clockwise.

my marks below - my engine was slightly turned so all the marks are slightly off.
