Hogsback in Autumn
Hogsback.

Some people call it the most beautiful place in South Africa.
Some claim that it was the inspiration for JRR Tolkien's Lord of the Rings.

Whether true or not, Hogsback is a magical place, giving one the eerie feeling that there are indeed fairies and elves in the misty forests (even an few orgs?).

I am not to keen on winter, but autumn in Hogsback was a great experience.
The brief respite from the rain and mist allowed very few photographs, but I had to capture the brilliant colours of the trees and shrubs in autumn livery:

Yup,

Hogsback is really an awesome little paradise, its strange how in the middle of the eastern Cape dryness, as you go up the winding road into hogsback how it cools down with a change in climate and Flora.

They also have some really majestic views if you go into the bush and to the edge of the cliffs, they also have some really good hiking trailss like Madonna & Child etc, with a waterfall & pool at the end.

Also a fantstic starting & ending point for the Amatola trails.

Pub is really nice & rustic too, and the towns only ATM at the hotel.

It really is more of a 'world of its own' than a lush Island in the middle of E.C.

4e, those are really awesome pics, we were there for a stopover whilst on Honeymoon in November,
and no where near as colourful, but still lush and green, and mist most of the time.

Cheers
