I am planning a(nother) trip to the Richtersveld.

Anyone been there recently with some pointers and tips. I have experience of the area but was wondering if there's something new that might be interesting.

Hi Simon

Can I ask when are you planning your trip for ? I'm in the process of also making a break that way sometime soon - before summer, and hopefully with another one or two POCSA members.

Thanks

Achille

It will only be next year unfortunately, and is a family outing - hence the need to plan well in advance

Hallo Simon,
Find out about the weather, because if its raining ,please stay out of the roads and look for higher grounds.Remember all the roads are rivers. We had the experience of the Richtersveld 3 years ago when it was raining heavely. One of our friends lost his vehicle and we drove 27km in 3 days.
Otherwise a great experience.

Was that they guy who lost his vehicle and trailer? If so my father-in-law provided assistance there, also getting stuck at Potjiepram for a few days.

I'm well aware of the major risk of flash floods there, but yeah always have to keep one's wits about you.

Contact Rita at Daisy Country Lodge 027 712 3335 in Springbok maybe she can give you pointers and ideas. They know the Richtersveld very well. Enjoy.

And so 4 sleeps to our Richtersveld trip. The vehicle is ready - now just need to do some final shopping and then need to pack.

Can't wait.
