Hallo julle
My name is Gerrie and I now live here in Canada. I've imported a 3.0 D-4D Toyota diesel and am putting that into my Toyota Tacoma (similar to the Hilux). I ran into a bit of a snag with swapping out the injectors, and I'm hoping you guys can help me out here. Someone suggested that the mechanical injectors from a Mitsubishi Pajero with the 3.2L engine will fit, but I have searched high and low and cannot find any info on a 3.2L engine that was not electronically controlled by an ECU. Is there such an engine, or did he mean it was a 2.8L?
Dankie
Gerrie

Thanks for the reply. I am converting the electronic engine to a 100% mechanical engine (mechanical injection pump, mechanical turbo, mechanical injectors, no ECU). According to those who have done the same conversion, only the Pajero injectors will work and match. I'm having a hard time discovering the exact part numbers for these injectors, esp. since they said it is for a 3.2 Pajero and I can't find any info on that.
Thanks
Although the diesel injection pump on the 3.2 DiD Pajero motor (engine code 4M41) is electronically controlled, the injectors themselves are fully mechanical and have a dual stage operation.

The earlier 4M41 (Di-D) engines had injector pumps.
Later models (current) has common rail injection.
I presume you are looking at the earlier models.
This web site lists the Di-D injector as having a part No 105048-4410, but I suspect that that is their own number.

Hi guys
This is really good information. Thank you very much. So, my understanding is that the common rail systems do require electronic injectors, right? So, yes, I would need to look at the earlier non common rail injectors. Were they all dual stage, or were some single stage? Does anyone perhaps know which model years the 4M41 3.2L came with these mechanical injectors?

Hi,
afaik the non CR models were 2000/2001 only. At least in Europe.
The 165hp is non CR, all others should be CR.
Hope this helps.

From what I gather from Mr Google and my own library, the Common Rail variant of the Di-D (125kW/373Nm) was introduced at the end of 2006, in the Gen4 (NS) Pajero.
The uprated Di-D engine (also CR) (147kW @ 3800rpm and 441Nm @ 2000rpm) was introduced at different times in different markets, from 2008 onwards.

Oops, I forgot about the common rail DiD (sometimes referred to as the DiD-C. Fortunately Gerhard is always wide awake.
The common rail was launched in SA in 2007, but might well have been in other markets in the second half of 2006.
All non-common rail DiDs from late 1999 to somewhere in 2006 (depending on market) had the dual stage mechanical injectors.
